Great food! I've eaten Peruvian in Peru and this place doesn't disappoint. However, make sure you call to see if they're open because I just finished eating and the listing says it's closed right now. We ordered the Ceviche Mixto, Lomo Saltado, Papas a la Huancaina and the Choritos a la Chalaca. All were as expected. Top notch.

The food is good, but the Customer Service--or lack thereof, is horrible. Both an older and younger woman that work there are rude and uninviting. I eat here at least three times a month with my sister and we overlook the bad customer service because there aren't any other places in the area to get ceviche. During this LAST visit, the older waitress, Andrea, did not include cancha with my order of ceviche so when I asked for some she told me there would be a charge (when there shouldn't be because it comes with the order). I overlooked it and agreed to pay the $3.00 up-charge. When I received an 8oz cup of cancha that was halfway empty, I politely asked her if she could at least fill it up and give me my money's worth. She rolled her eyes and restated that I would have to pay an additional $3.00. When I asked to speak with a manager she walked over to the kitchen and told a person named Jose, who very loudly exclaimed in Spanish, "What does she want? These customers are a pain in the ass. I am sick and tired! Just give her the damn cancha so she can leave!" It's so disappointing when you like a restaurant because the food is good, but are treated with no respect when you spend your time and money dining there. I'm only rating this place because of their lack of unprofessionalism and bad customer service. I would give them a negative number if I could. The ceviche is good though.

The server just brought me the wrong dish. When I told her I ordered something different she looked at me with a blank stare. So I ask her if I could get what I ordered and she says. "I don't know if we do that let me ask the chef". She takes my plate in the back and returns with it a few minutes later. "Nope, we don't take returns" she says is what the "chef" said. So she sits the plate back in front of me, I guess assuming that I will just pick up a fork and start eating WHAT I DIDN'T ORDER! Of course, I said to please just take it away. So she does and I sit there watching my friend eat lunch while I sip my soda. So here's my review... based on the lack of service and basic restaurant etiquette, PASS. This is Miami. Here are absolutely GREAT ceviche opportunities all around us. Trust me, look elsewhere because this place has some work to do.

This place customer service is horrible! I went in to try the place out! I was craving ceviche... The lady at the counter approaches us with an attitude and says we can't do take out!!! There was no one in the restaurant mind you!!! I was so furious she rejected our money to buy food! I don't understand how this place stays open....

Aah, I want to give 3 1/2 stars, but I can't. I work right down the street from Ceviche Cafe and decided to take my husband and Mother in Law there when they visited my office. There were about 2 other diners in the whole restaurant during Friday lunchtime, but we ended up having a good experience. I liked the complimentary plantain chips although my husband was disappointed that they only had the green sauce and not the yellow sauce. The two of us got items off of the lunch menu, which came with cups of delicious soup that had veggies, pearl pasta and some meat in them. Then he had the Lomo Saltado and I had the Grilled Fish. Both were just fine, but we've had better elsewhere. My Mother in Law had the Ceviche Mixto, which I told her to order based on other reviews on this page and because she loves ceviche. It was definitely the right move! She loved it and there was more than enough food. She and my husband also shared a carafe of sangria which was just Yaro and canned fruit, but fine for them. I would go back here for lunch since it's affordable, not a chain and so close to my office.

Names can be deceiving because this Peruvian cafe was so much more than I expected. I was invited out to lunch with a colleague and she suggested Ceviche Cafe. Something about the name just turned me off. But, you know, when you're invited, it's nice to just go along for the ride. I'm so happy I did because Ceviche Cafe is an awesome gem tucked into an easily-overlooked shopping plaza on 135th. Between us we had the Seafood Stew and the Grilled Fish. To start, they bring out plantain chips with that crispy corn that I don't know the name of. Alongside it, there are two dipping sauces. The green one is milder than the red, but both are amazing. The main courses were excellent. Freshly prepared and well seasoned. The Grilled Fish came with two sides, and I chose black beans and the salad. They have about eight sides to choose from. The service was also on point. They were friendly and attentive without hovering. I had such a great experience that I went back two days later to pick up dinner so my SO could try out the food. I found out that they deliver! So glad that I got a chance to try out Ceviche Cafe because I don't know that I would have ever stopped in on my own.

Best ceviche i've had in North Miami. I ordered the ceviche mixto and loved it so much I had to order a second one. The green sauce they put on the table with platano chips is also great. My hubby ordered a fish soup which he seemed to like very much. All in all this place is worth trying out.

I ate here last sunday for the very first time: DELICIOUS. 1.Portions: Big -I had to take half of my plate home. Lunch for the next day is always a Plus ++!! 2. Service: The waitress was very nice, quick service, very professional. 3. Flavor: I had the Sauteed Chicken Loin with Onions (pollo saltado con cebolla). It was an explosion of flavors in my mouth. I will definitely come back!!!!!!!

I received a flier saying they deliver. I called to order for 6 people and the woman who answered the phone (automatically speaking in Spanish) acted like she could not hear me when I spoke in English. She kept saying hello, hello..... And then hung up. I called back and the call went to their answering machine. I called back 5 mins after and answering machine again. It seemed like she didn't want to speak English or possibly couldn't. So, we ordered elsewhere. Customer service is paramount in a businesses survival; unfortunately this business is not very worried about that.

the food is 5 Star. It's delicious. I've parked at about 8:30PM, knowing exactly what I want to order on a normal week day (they close at 9) and they have told me only "to go" we cannot sit in. So they let us walk away. Before I about a year ago I gave it 5 stars.

OK so I go there like at 2:00 PM & I see that they have a lot of lunch specials & they are reasonably priced. As I am looking at the menu the waitress comes & asked me what I liked to order so I tell her that I would like the "Pollo Saltado" lunch special & she tells me that they are out of lunch specials. I thought maybe they are just out of "Pollo Saltado" so I mentioned another one she tells me "NO," me are completely out of all lunch specials (even though it's in the middle of lunch time). She says that there was a big party that eat it all & that there is only regular price menu food available. I am Peruvian myself so this kinda scam is sad, but it does not shock me. There were so many varieties with the lunch specials so how can they still have regular menu food but be completely out of just all of the lunch specials? I just told her I came for the lunch specials & walked out. Really sad because the place had a nice atmosphere.

Food is excellent, especially the garlic fried whole snapper. But the lady that is the manager/ server there is very mean and rude and acts like she hates that you are there every time I have gone and now I just stopped going. She should be fired asap.

Tasty but portions are somewhat small in comparison to some of the other Peruvian restaurants in the area. I ordered lomo saltado, which was pretty average at best. Not terrible or anything, but not great either.

  • Breeanna G.

I ordered the Ceviche Mixto with seafood and shrimp. It was very good and included a good selection of fresh seafood. It was very flavorful! The pricing to me was a little over my price range, but we found coupons in a local newspaper that helped. The restaurant wasn't very full when we came in on a Saturday night. The ambience is not very appealing. I'm big on that. There are a few TVs showing Spanish shows, which to me made the restaurant more casual and less elegant. Also tip: on yelp the restaurant shows that it's closed. However, that's incorrect for the day that we went. I would suggest calling to see if they're open because they most likely are.

I stopped by with a friend to check the place out and found that the food was good. I had the seco de rez and choritos a la chalaca. I thought the choritos were good but kind of small compared to other Peruvian places I have been to. The seco de rez was good, but I've had better for less money. What really makes me give two stars is the service. The service was awful!!! Nobody said anything to us, we were just told to "Pick a seat". We sat down outside and we ordered. The server still didn't say anything. We finished and she came out and asked "done?", then we paid. I will not go back because of the service. I can get decent quality Peruvian food and better service somewhere else.

Got a takeout order on Sunday night. Ordered the Lomo Saltado, but with boiled potatoes instead of fries. They had no problem with the substitution. I also order a leche de tigre. The order was ready within about 5-10 minutes, and was wrapped up with plenty of care. In the mean time I checked out the menu, which also included a few Venezuelan options. The order was 20 dollars, which was pretty pricey for a to-go dinner. I got the order home and was pleased with the portions (read: generous.) Lomo Saltado was good, not the best, but very acceptable. Leche de tigre was delish!! I ordered medium spicy and that was just right for me. It was super tangy, LOTS of onions, so do not eat on date night, and kernels of the mutant Peruvian corn which was a nice little bite to cool the palate when it was getting too zesty. overall: Staff was super friendly, food was good, and price was a little high. They do have specials for lunch during the week though and are on the American Airlines dining rewards network, so I got my miles. Next time I would probably would go for lunch.

We had the ceviche. It was okay. However, my bf's ceviche had plastic pieces around the calamari. The owner/manager was nice enough to take his entree of the tab but didn't say I'm sorry and acted as if it was the usual and has happened before. It seemed as though the owner/manager was doing us the favor by taking it off and not charging. I will never go back here again and please check your food prior to eating it.

So, let me first say I am an American who is dating a Peruvian who has very high standards. We recently relocated here and have been trying every Peruvian restaurant around. We both cook Peruvian but get lazy! We have tried this place a few times. Each time we both tell each other we have had way better. It's so called Peruvian but the people are from Venezuela?... needless to say there is much better ceviche, pollo a la brasa, lomo, tallarin verde, etc fairly close by. My husband and I tried Ceviche Cafe (formerly Pachamama) for the first time since they opened 6 months ago, and they served us great Peruvian food. We will be back! We had: 1) iced tea, made fresh; 2) a delicious, large portion of mixed seafood & fish ceviche to share; 3) cilantro seafood soup with mixed seafood, rice, veggies, and a huge prawn in it; and 4) grilled fish with "crema" and white beans. The grilled fish was light, flaky, tender on the inside, and crispy on the outside. For dessert, we had something like donuts in caramel sauce. The ceviche dish was HUGE, with mussels, shrimp, fish, squid, red onion, cilantro, and Peruvian corn is a delicious tangy sauce. They give you a little bowl of plantains and corn when you sit down. If you like good seafood, try this place. They also had plenty of chicken and beef on the menu, which will be very good if the seafood offerings are any indication.

We tried out this place Saturday, June 11th because I was craving ceviche:-) On a down side, we walked in and almost decided to leave after a rather awkward 2 minutes or so that we were waiting to be seated. 2 men were doing...I guess some accounting for the business and looked at us but did not say anthing. As we looked around wondering if we should just grab a seat or leave one of them men finally went to the back of the restaurant and told someone that there were 'people' here. still, no one came out so we grabbed a seat on our own. Finally, another man came to our table and brought us menus and took our drink order. He wasn't very welcoming either. We quietly discussed if we should just go elsewhere, but my boyfriend insisted we stick-it-out. I ordered the shrimp ceviche and he ordered lomo saltado. Thank goodness we stuck-it-out! My ceviche was SO good! at $13 the price wasn't so bad because it came loaded with shrimp and sweety potato and corn. The flavor was on point! My boyfriend's lomo saltado was also VERY delicious. We're definitely going back to this place, not only for ceviche but to try other things. HOpefully next time, the service won't be so bad, but at least this time, I know I'll stay for the delicious food!
